CEILING INSULATION
What are the benefits of ceiling insulation?
A well-insulated ceiling can reduce heat loss through your roof by up to 35%, leading to significant savings on your energy bills. Proper ceiling insulation creates a more comfortable indoor environment by maintaining consistent temperatures throughout your home year-round, while also helping to reduce condensation and dampness.

How do you choose the right ceiling insulation?
When selecting ceiling insulation, consider:

- Available space in your roof cavity including access and working height
- Budget considerations - glass wool typically offers the most cost-effective solution
- Installation preferences - whether you prefer the easy-handling properties of polyester or the value of glass wool
- Environmental factors - consider GreenStuf if sustainability is a priority
Installation Considerations
For optimal performance:
- Ensure complete coverage across the entire ceiling area
- In some cases removing old insulation will provide optimal performance
- Maintain appropriate clearance around downlights and other fixtures and think about upgrading older downlight to LED lights rated so insulation can lay over them, avoiding big gaps in you insulation
- For homes with flat or skillion roofs, install insulation between ceiling joists / rafters during construction or renovation
- GreenStuf Roll Form can be laid directly over ceiling joists for a seamless thermal barrier
- Bradford Gold and Pink Batts glass wool segments are ideal for installation between timber framing
